Bangun Simbolon was born on 10 March 1972 in Medan, North Sumatera Province. He obtained his bachelor’s degree at the Catholic University of Santo Thomas Medan, majoring in civil law in 1994, then he continued his studies at Jayabaya University Jakarta Graduate Program with a field of Business Law in 2018 until to date and in the process of Thesis completion in order to secure his master degree in business law. He has served those Malaysia and Hongkong based Multi National Company as Indonesia General Manager from 2008 to 2017 before he established his own law firm in 2018. He also has experienced in a Textile and Korean Bank industry in 1995 until 2005 before joining a Malaysia and Hongkong based of direct selling company. He became a certified lawyer from an official and legal advocate organization of Indonesian Advocates Association namely Perhimpunan Advokat Indonesia (PERADI) in 2012.
He has been joined the law firm of Rustam Efendy and Associates (REA) in 2018 until now as Senior Partner. Since then, he has much involved in dealing with the litigation cases of PT. Angkasa Pura II (Persero) such as land procurement, administrative law, commercial law and anti monopoly law. He also certified Constitutional Court consultant in 2020.
Bangun Simbolon is a member of the Indonesian Advocates Association (PERADI) and the founder and Managing Partner of the BANGUN TUANNAHODARAJA SIMBOLON & PARTNERS (BTS LAW FIRM). He also served DPN PERADI as member of Advocate Protection Unit for the period of service for year 2020 to 2025 and Deputy of Treasurer of PERADI East Jakarta Chapter for the period of service for year 2019 to 2023.
